Find a spot without showing map or compass?

Hello,

I am creating a bound, and i am wondering if it is possible to have the next step show up at a certain location without showing a compass or a map. The idea behind this is that the location can be found based on a hint.

I tried it with switches by setting the next exercise to reveal itself on location, but this doesn’t work since it will just skip the action if not already there. Any idea how i can accomplish this?

Hello tomalina,

you can add an information element and give your players some hints where to find the spot. As next element you use „Scan Code“. At the spot you hide a QR code which your players have to find and scan to get points.

That’s a clever way to do a puzzle/scavenger hunt!
The „Scan Code“ suggestion from Daniel is the standard workaround and honestly the most reliable way to enforce a physical spot without giving away GPS coordinates.
Another option that might work (depending on your Bound settings): you could use a „Task“ element instead of a „Find Spot“ one, and set the correct answer to be a specific keyword or code written on a hidden object at the spot. It’s a slightly different mechanism but achieves the same ‚must-be-there-to-continue‘ goal without maps/compasses.

Hello AmyD3, Hello tomalina,

I agree with AmyD3. A QR code could be lost by weather or other people. So just ask for things that can only be found there: i.e. „How many steps are there on the staircase?“
