Will businesses have the AB icon alongside the other social media buttons? Will there be AB clubs at schools and colleges? An AB board game at Walmart? Will it be used by advertising departments of Budweiser or Coca-Cola? Will Apple want to tell people the best AB experience is with the latest iPhone? Will the popular sitcom families play it?
Can AB offer a new gaming experience for everyone with a smartphone?
I’m just an outsider, really. I live where there aren’t any bounds. Nobody here knows what AB is? That’s practically true for the entire USA, even the whole hemisphere. I see AB as something that could be fun, something that I can be a part of, something that has the potential to grow, to branch out, to evolve.
It’s somewhat crazy that I’m even on this forum writing this. I’m just brainstorming, sharing some random thoughts on this topic. I don’t expect Simon or the other AB staff to share the dreams of the company, but if anyone would like to share their crazy ideas, too, this would be a good place.
A new gaming experience? This is just a blur in my head, really, so I’ll try to put it into words…
User gets the app. Creates user account. The app has global team competition feature. User selects “join team” and is randomly placed on a team of other users around the world. Maybe 5 players per team. Automatic language translation. Team members work together to complete “global bounds” that somehow require input from each team member, specific to that team member’s location or capabilities or interests. I don’t know what a “global bound” might be our how it could work, but the concept sounds fun.
In the USA, every state has a tourism department, and usually every County has a Bureau of tourism. Is it like that in other countries? Those organizations would be good places to sell AB “programs” to. I’ve seen some relayed to city tourism, like Potsdam, but a good program and a good marketing team could help bring in some profits. I don’t know, maybe you’re already doing that. Just a thought.
I keep wondering how it could be arranged, to get interested users randomly assigned to teams and notified when a bound is published.
Let’s say my town has twenty people who would like to play this format. I could collect name and email, make the random teams at home, post the team rosters on a blog a week before the bound is published. Then the experience of competing together might yield new friendships. I’d definitely advertise well ahead and let people know that there are rewards.
I can manage this format on my own. However, in a more bound-congested area (like Berlin?), maybe there would be enough interest in competitions for prizes with computer-generated teams to bring strangers together. If so, then some method of incorporating this into the app would be very helpful. I’d love to be in a city with plenty of AB users to test this format. Am I crazy, or what?
