Smart phones and I pads

Hi

I want to make a treasure quest for the kids I baby sit for. They are too young to have smart phones but they have an i pad , can the bound be used on an i pad in the same way as a phone? (i mean Imake the bound on my computer and they can use the app on the i pad)
